Micro Center price match & price adjustment: the 30-day window

Micro Center runs both halves of the price-protection deal, which puts it in a small club: it matches major online competitors in the store, and it refunds its own price drops for 30 days after purchase. Both policies come with exclusions that matter most during Black Friday season — here's the documented picture and where each rule is published.

The match: in-store vs major online

Per Micro Center's own knowledge base, the store matches qualifying prices from major online competitors on identical, in-stock items — you bring the competing price (their live product page counts) and the match happens at the store before you pay. It's a pre-purchase policy: unlike the adjustment window, there's nothing to claim after the fact, so the check happens at the counter.

The adjustment: 30 days on its own drops

The other half: if Micro Center lowers its own price within 30 days of your purchase, the documented policy covers an adjustment to the difference. The window is generous by category standards — it spans the whole Black Friday-to-Cyber Monday stretch for anything bought at the start of November — and it's the same "both" policy shape as B&H Photo and Best Buy. The exclusions to check before counting on it: clearance and open-box items, and any event-ticketed pricing the current terms exclude. The full per-retailer window table is in the price guarantee guide.

Micro Center: the two policies

Two different questions, two different rules — check the tab that matches yours.

In-store matching against major online competitors

Micro Center matches qualifying prices from major online competitors on in-stock, identical items — bring the competing price to the store and ask before you pay.

  • Match happens in store — bring the competitor's current price (their site counts).
  • Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales are excluded from the match, in the KB's own words — event ticketed prices don't qualify.
  • Quantity-limited and clearance/closeout items sit outside the match, per the store's terms.
  • Marketplace (third-party seller) prices are not competitor prices.

Exclusions & the open-box angle

Two exclusion patterns recur across both policies and matter most for PC builders:

For students building a rig around a term break — where the buy window is short and a post-purchase drop is exactly what you can't wait out — the 30-day adjustment is the meaningful protection. Plan the purchase against your calendar: the college class schedule maker partner tool is a quick way to see which purchase dates actually leave you inside the 30-day window before your build weekend.

Window lookup & how to claim

The claim mechanics are the standard three: keep the receipt (the 30-day clock starts at purchase), watch the same item on Micro Center's own site for the drop, and request the adjustment through the store or its support channel inside the window — with the order number in hand. For the math on whether a drop is worth the trip, the price-adjustment guide covers the claim flow, and every retailer's rule sheet with sources lives in the retailer rules library.
